Call for Participation - Winter School on Sustainability and Climate Resilience in the Red Sea
This event aims to address the impacts of urban, touristic, and industrial developments on the local natural and cultural heritage in the Galala—Ain Sukhna region. Participants will engage in a comprehensive examination of these challenges, leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze the current situation and forecast future development scenarios. The goal is to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and generate innovative solutions for sustainable development and climate resilience in the region.

Selection Criteria:
- Academic Relevance: Applicants should be graduate students, researchers, lecturers, or professionals in architecture, urban design, urban planning, Civil engineering, environmental sciences, geographical sciences, or any relevant discipline. A background related to sustainability and climate change in the Red Sea is a bonus.
- GIS Awareness: Basic knowledge of GIS tools is required.
- English Proficiency: Applicants must be proficient in English.
- Motivation: A strong motivation to participate is essential.
- Training Readiness: Willingness to undertake a four-week online GIS training course prior to the event.
- Participation Commitment: Availability to attend the seven-day face-to-face Winter School.
- Scientific Contribution: Readiness to present a comprehensive literature review during the winter school and submit a scientific article applying learned tools analyzing collected data within three months after the event.
We particularly encourage applicants from scientific institutions, the private sector, and governmental and non-governmental organizations located in the regions of the Red Sea, Suez Canal, and Sinai. However, applicants from all other regions and internationals residing in Egypt are also welcome to apply. accommodation, transportation, and daily meals are fully covered by the fund.
