About the DAAD Kairo Akademie
The DAAD Kairo Akademie (DKA) is dedicated to quality assurance and capacity building in higher education and research. Since its foundation in the year 2011, the DKA continuously has developed further its offers for interested participants at universities, institutions of higher education and research as well as relevant Ministries. The establishment of the DKA was made possible by the funding from the German Federal Foreign Office through the so-called transformation partnerships.
Until today, more than 20.000 participants from Egyptian institutions of higher education, research as well as from Ministries have benefitted from over 1.200 training modules out of five different focus areas: Management, Communication, Research, Teaching as well as Institutional Development.
Various training modules offer for example courses to gain valuable competencies and thus promote scientific excellency. Furthermore, the module offers are being improved continuously by the staff of the DAAD Regional Office Cairo in accordance to the needs of the local world of academia and science and present innovative opportunities for the skill enhancement and capacity building for the different target groups and partner institutions of the DAAD.
Under the umbrella of the DAAD Kairo Akademie, a cluster of modules targeting different groups such as prospective applicants for scholarship programmes, postdocs, alumni, scholarship holders as well as for academics in general has been developed in cooperation with professional trainers. Module topics range from traditional areas like “Proposal Writing”, “International Networking”, “How to present Scientific Data”, to soft skills like “Effective Time Management” or “Teambuilding”. During the one-day modules, groups of about 25 participants receive intensive training in the selected subject. DAAD intends to address the need for further education to help strengthen Egyptian students and researchers in international competition by offering opportunities for further training rarely found in universities and research institutions. Training opportunities are also offered, targeting administrational staff at universities and ministries.
Due to the high demand for DKA modules, and in order to benefit as many academics as possible, the number of modules that each candidate may participate in will be limited to four modules this year. Thank you for your understanding!
