Dr. Richard Feddersen rich.feddersenedu.asu.edu.eg
… is an assistant professor (DAAD lecturer) at the German Department of the Faculty of Education and at the Centre of Excellence for the Study and Research in German and Arabic as a Foreign Language (EZ-DAAF) at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. He received his PhD in German Applied Linguistics from the University of Alberta, Canada in 2023. Among other teaching positions, he was a lecturer of German at the GJU and a language teacher at the Goethe-Institut in Jordan, taught English and German at the University of Alberta in Canada, and was a project team member at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in Germany. He has worked with diverse students of different ages, abilities, and cultural and educational backgrounds. His research, inspired and informed by his teaching experience, lies at the intersection of Second Language Research and Sociolinguistics, with a focus on identity and language ideologies and a particular interest in study abroad. His methodological approaches include tools from Multimodal Discourse Analysis and Interactional Sociolinguistics.

Manuel Junge studied from 2007 to 2012 German Language and Literature and History at Osnabrück University (B.A., M.Ed., Lehramt an Gymnasien), German as a Foreign and Second Language at the University of Kassel (distance learning certificate, 2011–2012) and International Development Studies at Wageningen University (Netherlands, 2010/2011). In 2021 he was awarded a PhD (Dr. phil.) by the School of Language and Literary Studies at Osnabrück University (Der Islam in deutschen Lesebüchern 1935–1964/65, Ergon, 2022).
Manuel Junge worked as a DAAD language assistant at the College of Arts and Social Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman (2012–2013), as a language instructor at interDaF am Herder-Institut at Leipzig University (2013/2014) and as a research associate at the Department of German Language and Literature at Osnabrück University (2014–2020). Since October 2020 Manuel Junge has been holding the position of a DAAD lecturer at the Department of German Language and Literature (Faculty of Arts) at Helwan University in Cairo.
